HVAC for Pacific Palisades Rebuilds

New Homes. Familiar Streets.

Committed to the Rebuilding of Pacific Palisades

Hoffman Cooling & Heating has been working in the Palisades a long time — on the Alphabet Streets, in the Highlands, and through the Riviera. These aren’t just job sites to us. We know these streets, and we know the people who live on them.

When the fires broke out in January 2025, we were down there while the hills were still burning, bringing whatever supplies we could to the firefighters.

Seeing the neighborhood like that is something that hasn’t left us. Neither has our commitment to the people rebuilding it.

We Know These Homes

We’ve worked in the Palisades for years. We understand how these homes are built, how systems need to be installed on these hillsides, and how to design HVAC systems that last.

A lot of new faces have shown up to help with the rebuild. It’s a massive undertaking, and it’s going to take everyone to get this community back on its feet. But local experience still matters when you’re rebuilding a home from the ground up.

If you lost your home, you’re already dealing with enough. Our job is to help you make informed decisions, answer your questions honestly, and make sure the HVAC side of the rebuild is done right.

How We Can Support Your Rebuild

Whether you’re a homeowner navigating the rebuilding process on your own or working with a general contractor, we help design and install HVAC systems for Pacific Palisades rebuilds from start to finish.

01

Working Alongside Your Team

Wherever you are in the process, we can help guide the HVAC side of your rebuild. We’re working alongside many of the most trusted contractors and builders in the Palisades. We coordinate with the other trades so HVAC decisions don’t slow the project down. Rebuild projects move fast, and good communication matters.

02

Design & Planning

Before you break ground, we’re happy to review plans with your contractor or design team. Many rebuilds are moving toward high-efficiency heat pumps and multi-zone systems, but every project is different. Whatever direction you choose, early HVAC coordination helps avoid revisions later and keeps the project moving.

03

THE WORK BEHIND THE WALLS

In a rebuild, the work behind the walls is the foundation of your comfort. Hillside access, tight mechanical spaces, and modern energy requirements all affect how these systems need to be installed if they’re going to perform the way they should for years to come.

04

Clean Air From Day One

We install whole-home air purification systems for homeowners dealing with ongoing construction dust or who have concerns about wildfire smoke and long-term indoor air quality. Since the fires, indoor air quality is a conversation we’re having more often.

Palisades Rebuild FAQ

As early as the design phase, before plans are submitted. HVAC placement, duct routing, equipment pad locations, and electrical requirements all need to be coordinated with the architect and structural drawings. Getting HVAC involved before framing helps avoid changes later and keeps the project moving smoothly.

A rebuild is one of the few times you have a completely clean slate — no existing ductwork to work around, no compromises from a previous installation. That makes it worth considering whether the system you had before is still the right fit for the home you’re building now.

The goal isn’t to upgrade for the sake of upgrading. It’s to use the opportunity to design the HVAC around the home you’re building now.

It depends on the home. High-efficiency heat pumps, zoning, and upgraded filtration can all make sense for a Pacific Palisades rebuild, but the right system depends on the layout of the house, how the home will be used, and what the homeowner wants from the system.

We start with the home — the layout, how it sits on the property, and how the owners plan to use the space. Duct layout follows the floor plan rather than working around it. We coordinate closely with the build team — architects, designers, and general contractors — so HVAC decisions support the overall design of the home and the system performs the way it should once the house is finished.

We seal off the ductwork during construction so contaminants don’t end up inside the new system. Once the home is finished, good filtration helps keep the air cleaner.

HVAC work on a rebuild still requires permits and inspections, but Palisades projects currently qualify for expedited review under Los Angeles rebuilding programs.

In many rebuilds, the general contractor pulls permits for the project as a whole. We coordinate closely with the build team and can pull HVAC permits when the scope calls for it.

Permitting is only part of the process. New systems also need to comply with current energy and ventilation requirements, including Title 24.

Yes. We provide detailed scopes of work, equipment specifications, and cost documentation for insurance purposes. If you’re working with an adjuster, we can provide the documentation they need and help keep the process moving.

Installing ductwork and equipment locations during framing typically takes five to seven days depending on home size. Final equipment installation and startup happen later once the home is closer to completion. The HVAC timeline is coordinated around the construction schedule so we’re not creating delays for other trades.

Rebuild projects qualify for the same California incentive programs as standard new construction.

Heat pumps and qualifying high-efficiency systems are where the biggest incentives apply. Since you’re starting fresh, it’s worth evaluating available rebate opportunities during the design phase so potential incentives can be factored into equipment selection from the beginning.
