I grew up in Tarzana. I know these neighborhoods because I spent my childhood here. I know these homes because I’ve spent my whole career working in them.
Tarzana sits in the heart of the Valley heat. Triple-digit summer days, extremely hot attics, and ranch homes built in the ’50s and ’60s before central air was standard all shape the job. Many of these older homes had HVAC added years later, so the original layout wasn’t designed around modern heating and cooling.
Over the decades, many homes have also been remodeled or expanded without redesigning the ductwork and airflow. The HVAC system often ends up serving a home that’s changed while the ductwork hasn’t — and it shows.
